He was the assistant manager for Liverpool’s under-23 squad, and the Englishman will already be familiar with Michael Edwards, whose first stint at the Merseyside Reds coincided with O’Neil’s time at the club.

Gary O’Neil will also be familiar to Richard Hughes, who was recently appointed as the sporting director at Liverpool

However, this does not guarantee that he would be the next Liverpool manager; this just serves as a suggestion that there is a possibility of the former Middlesbrough midfielder swapping the Molineux Stadium for Anfield.
