Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late teammate Diogo Jota by getting a tattoo in his honor. Jota tragically died earlier this month in a car accident along with his brother André Silva. To remember him, Liverpool has retired Jota's No.20 shirt and created a special "Forever" section on their squad page as part of ongoing tributes ahead of the new Premier League season.

Tsimikas revealed his tattoo, which is inked on his hand, bears the message "Wish you were here" alongside Jota's No.20 shirt number. The two players joined Liverpool at the same time in the summer of 2020 and developed a close friendship. Tsimikas described their bond and shared moments, recalling a phrase Jota once said: "You cross, I score," which highlighted their on-field chemistry.

He called Jota a "special player" and "true legend," expressing his enduring admiration and sorrow. Tsimikas extended his condolences to Jota's wife, children, family, and loved ones, saying both Jota and his brother will be missed forever.

In a related tribute, Portugal international Ruben Neves has also honored Jota by getting a tattoo. Neves and Jota shared close ties both at Wolverhampton Wanderers and on the Portuguese national team. Following Jota's death at age 28 in a car crash in northern Spain in July, Neves was among the pallbearers at his funeral.

Portugal’s manager Roberto Martinez announced that Jota’s No.21 jersey for the national team will be passed on to Neves, ensuring Jota’s legacy remains on the field. Martinez emphasized Jota’s profound impact and described his spirit as a guiding light motivating the team to pursue their goals, including winning the World Cup—a dream Jota had cherished deeply.
