Diogo Paiva has become the latest departure in Liverpool’s coaching ranks.
Paiva joined the club’s academy ranks last summer from Porto, where he had worked with Jurgen Klopp’s elite former development coach Vitor Matos.
The Portuguese coach worked as a technical skills specialist at the AXA Training Centre, assisting various age groups at the Kirkby operations base.
But Paiva joins U21 boss Barry Lewtas, U18s head Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and first-team coach John Heitinga in departing Anfield’s technical setup.
In a post on LinkedIn, he revealed that the Reds had facilitated his departure ‘earlier than expected’ in an emotional open letter to his recent employers.
He wrote: “This club has been more than just a place to work.
It is a great club that will always hold a special place in my heart.
“I want to express my gratitude to the management for understanding my reasons for leaving the club earlier than expected and for releasing me from my commitments.
“As I return home to be with my family and await new projects, I reflect on the incredible journey I’ve had here.
“Thank you all for the opportunity to be part of this magnificent club and for allowing me to experience what it truly means to be a Premier League champion.
“It has been a pleasure working with all of you!
