France Football Removes Ballon d'Or Poll After Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah Claim Almost All Votes

While L?ionel Messi remains in the race to win the Ballon d'Or this year, an opinion poll set up by the organisers of the award, France Football saw the Argentinian maestro claim 48 percent of the votes.

Five time Ballon d'Or winner and ?an inspiration for millions of footballers around the world, Messi then surpassed the Liverpool talisman and claimed top position on the poll before France Football took it down.

After a total of 704,396 votes, the Barcelona superstar took 48 per cent of the votes with Salah receiving 31 per cent.

?Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was in second place with 31 percent votes, Cristiano Ronaldo took the third spot with eight percent, before the poll was removed by the website.

In comparison to the top three, Luka Modric, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar received just 2% of the votes.

Over 700,000 fans cast their votes but only ?Messi and Salah's names were prevalent in their choices.

?Marca report that Salah, who starred for Liverpool last season took over 50% of the votes after the first 250,000 fans completed the voting.
