Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has attracted interest from Ligue 1 side Monaco as Eddie Howe prepares for further player exits.

Amid the North East club’s preparations for the upcoming Premier League season, Callum Wilson left Newcastle before joining West Ham on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Magpies academy graduate Sean Longstaff, who made over 200 senior appearances for the St James’ Park side moved to newly promoted Leeds United.

Newcastle are also battling to retain Alexander Isak amid strong interest from defending Premier League champions Liverpool in the Sweden striker.

Trippier has become a fan favourite at Newcastle, but he made just 14 Premier League starts for Eddie Howe’s men last season.

Meanwhile, according to talkSPORT [11 July], Monaco are considering a move for the former England international.

Playing ‘transfer Tinder’ live on talkSPORT on Tuesday, 12 August, Ally McCoist said: “I’m swiping right (saying yes) immediately.

“34 years of age.

Wonderful career, tremendous career.

Come on, what’s not to love about that?”

While Newcastle are interested in Yoane Wissa, the North East club could also facilitate Trippier’s exit this summer.

As alluded to by McCoist, the 34-year-old has enjoyed a stellar Premier League career, and he also performed well during his previous stint with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

The right-back should be eager to move abroad once more, as Monaco can still offer him Champions League football, and Ligue 1 provides a less strenuous challenge than the Premier League for a player who turns 35 next month.

Furthermore, as also outlined by McCoist, the former Tottenham man would enjoy a luxurious lifestyle in Monaco.

After helping Newcastle to Carabao Cup glory as well as Champions League qualification last term, this summer would mark an apt time for Trippier to seek a fresh opportunity.

Additionally, the fullback has fallen behind Tino Livramento in Howe’s pecking order and could enjoy more game time in the French top flight.
