Luis Diaz is in the crosshairs of both Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer, with the Colombian continuing to attract plenty of transfer noise.

Despite Liverpool’s insistence that Diaz is not for sale, interest has poured in from Europe’s elite

According to Bild, Diaz has “agreed” personal terms in Munich and is now FC Bayern’s top candidate for the left flank following Jamal Musiala’s season-ending injury.

Liverpool, however, swiftly rebuffed an initial Bayern approach.

Barcelona is also making the 28-year-old a top target after their preferred option in Nico Williams signed a 10-year deal at Athletic Bilbao.

Fabrizio Romano has reported this week that the Catalan giants will be making renewed efforts this month after being rejected a few weeks ago.

But now, a surprising report has emerged from Diaz’s native Colombia.

Speaking on Sin Boleta’s YouTube channel, Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra has reported that Luis Diaz will ask to leave this summer if the club won’t renew his deal:

“The thing is, Lucho Diaz is going to tell Liverpool’s management: either renew my contract or let me leave, because I have an offer from Bayern and another from Barcelona,” he said.

“He wants to stay if they renew his contract – he wants to improve his terms.”

“But if they don’t renew him, then he wants to be allowed to go.”

He adds that the 28-year-old may well tell the Anfield chiefs himself in a face-to-face meeting – and Sierra asserts it takes on a different meaning should he tell them himself:

“It’s one thing for these discussions to happen through his inner circle or his agents.”

“It’s another thing entirely if Lucho Diaz himself says it directly.”

Sierra finishes off saying there are concrete offers from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, something in writing:

“When I say a formal offer, I mean not just interest, but that there is already something concrete from Bayern or Barcelona for a player, or at least there’s been an official written communication – a formal notice.”

It certainly looks like Diaz is aware he can earn a lot more if he moves clubs.

It seems that he basically wants Liverpool to match his earnings that he could make should a switch to a Barcelona or a Bayern Munich happen.

But there has been no indication that the Anfield chiefs are planning to offer improved terms at this stage, with Diaz’s deal running until 2027.
