Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen has emerged as one of the hottest transfer targets for the upcoming summer window, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Real Madrid all expressing genuine interest in the 20-year-old center-back.
The Spanish international, who joined the Cherries for just £12.8 million from Juventus last summer, has seen his market value skyrocket after an impressive debut Premier League season.
Liverpool has already held initial discussions with Dean Huijsen’s representatives to gauge the situation, as confirmed by David Ornstein.
What makes Huijsen particularly appealing in the transfer market is his £50 million release clause, which multiple reports have confirmed.
Uniquely, this release clause can be activated through payment in three installments, a rare arrangement that makes the financial outlay more manageable for interested clubs.
This flexible payment structure has heightened competition for Huijsen’s signature, drawing more top clubs into the race.
Despite signing a contract until 2030 with Bournemouth, the club is reportedly growing increasingly resigned to losing their young defensive star after just one season.
Chelsea are thought to be the only club to table an official offer to the Cherries defender.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, that looks like it could now change.
That’s because Antón Meana of Cadena SER has reported that Real Madrid’s attention is on Dean Huijsen now.
Los Blancos targeting two central defenders: Dean Huijsen and William Saliba.
According to the report, Huijsen has made the most progress recently and is Real Madrid’s preferred option.
The club aims to sign him before the Club World Cup to integrate him quickly into the squad.
If Real Madrid get involved, it would be very bad news for Liverpool.
The player previously revealed that Sergio Ramos is his idol.
When asked by El Chiringuito TV in April about the possibility of joining Real Madrid, Huijsen remained diplomatic but left the door open for future opportunities:
“I don’t know, we’ll see.
Every player wants to play in the maximum [level] possible,” he replied.
“A friend called me and said…’Go to Real Madrid’.
What am I going to say?”
Liverpool know all too well the feeling of losing out to the Spanish giants in the transfer window, and hopefully, Huijsen does not become another statistic.
