Dominik Szoboszlai entered his second season at Liverpool with a clear lesson in mind.
Reflecting on his debut campaign, the Hungarian midfielder showed maturity and self-awareness:
“Last year I spoke too much about titles and everything and of course we won one (trophy) and we had the chance to be up there until almost the very end,” he admitted.
“But we go game by game.”
That recalibrated mindset proved key in a season where Liverpool, under new head coach Arne Slot, clinched a record-equalling 20th league title.
Szoboszlai was integral to this triumph.
Having endured periods of fatigue in his first season, the 24-year-old embraced a more clearly defined role this term.
Slot’s tactical switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation placed Szoboszlai in direct competition with Harvey Elliott for the number 10 position—one he secured early on with a standout assist in the opening fixture at Ipswich Town.

His attacking output improved noticeably, with a total of eight goals and nine assists.
He underlined his creative value in key moments—registering assists in high-profile wins, including a 3-0 dismantling of Manchester United and a goal in the 3-1 Champions League victory at AC Milan.
Yet Szoboszlai showed adaptability when redeployed in deeper or more fluid roles.
