Liverpool look likely to lose a fourth player to Real Madrid since 2004, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to join the Spanish giants this summer.
The Reds have sold some big stars to Real over the years, with Michael Owen and Xabi Alonso jumping ship in 2004 and 2009 respectively.
Since then, Liverpool have done battle with the perennial Champions League winners on plenty of occasions, often coming out second best.
So, when Ryan Gravenberch’s agent spoke openly about Real Madrid interest during an interview with the Spanish press on Thursday, Liverpool supporters could be forgiven for feeling wary.
Gravenberch has had a great season, starting every single one of the Reds 31 Premier League matches so far.

It would not be a huge surprise to learn that Real do hold an interest in Gravenberch.
He has been one of the best midfielders in Europe this season..
Nevertheless, the 22-year-old has also had some struggles during his career so far, with Liverpool saving him from a disappointing spell at Bayern Munich.

Supporters would like to think Gravenberch holds some kind of loyalty towards their club for picking him up and giving him a proper home, and according to journalist Lewis Steele, the Dutchman is absolutely happy at Liverpool.
“I think basically what he [Gravenberch’s agent] was trying to say, I think the meaning of what he wanted to say has been lost in translation slightly,” Steele tells Anfield Index.

“It’s just that Real Madrid were interested in the past, not to say they are interested now.
“Gravenberch, from people I speak to, is loving life at Liverpool and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
So, I do think it’s a bit of a storm in a teacup that one.”
Obviously, you can rarely rule anything completely out during a transfer window.
Things have a tendency to happen which no one saw coming.
However, in terms of Real Madrid trying for Gravenberch, it does seem a very, very low chance.
Los Blancos are stacked in midfield, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and even Luka Modric still kicking around.
If they did come forward with a big offer for Gravenberch it would be interesting to see how Liverpool – and the player himself – react.
But it simply does not seem likely to happen.
Instead, Gravenberch should focus on building on what has been a super season for him and improving even further at Liverpool next term.
