Liverpool’s transfer plans have been accelerating this week as they look to tie up their first deal of the summer.
The Reds have been quiet in the market over the past 18 months, but appear ready to buck that trend ahead of the new season.
Jeremie Frimpong is the man in the news, and the Bayer Leverkusen right-back seemingly stands on the verge of becoming a Liverpool player.
As a very attacking full-back, some supporters have been split on whether Frimpong is the right player to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold.
However, Liverpool have seemingly been convinced that the Dutchman is exactly what they need.
And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arne Slot and his Liverpool coaching staff couldn’t be more sure about Frimpong’s qualities.

There has been plenty of debate from Liverpool fans about where Slot will deploy Frimpong once he joins.
Will the 24-year-old be a traditional right-back, or will he even play further forward in the attacking third?
Time will tell.

And while Romano does not give any details of where Reds supporters can expect to see Frimpong playing, he has relayed that in private, the Liverpool staff think their soon-to-be new arrival has ‘massive’ potential.
“Arne Slot was really, really important,” he told the Here We Go Podcast.
From what I heard there was already some contact between Frimpong and Arne Slot.”

“Internally, Arne Slot and the coaching staff believe that Frimpong is not just an excellent player on the offensive point of view, a player who can provide assists and score goals, but also with the potential to improve for more physical football, to defend more.
“It’s going to be a different way of playing but Liverpool are convinced that the potential of Jeremie Frimpong is massive and he’s a player worth more than the release clause in their view.”
As well as giving some interesting insights into the inner workings of this transfer, Romano suggests when Frimpong’s move to Liverpool could be completed.
“I expect the here we go to be ready in a matter of days,” he says.
“Jeremie Frimpong is expected to join Liverpool.
The agreement with the player is very close.”
Romano goes on to say that once a deal is secured with Frimpong himself, Liverpool will then trigger his release clause with Bayer Leverkusen.
Unless something goes badly wrong over the weekend, it looks as though things could be sorted before the Reds even finish their season.
