Tottenham and Thomas Frank have been handed a sliver of hope in a last-gasp move for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman.
Football Insider understood back in March that Nottingham Forest were well placed to sign Lookman, and since then, a number of big European clubs have joined the race for his signature.
The 27-year-old, who notched 20 goals and six assists in 40 appearances across all competitions last season, has been extremely honest in his desire to move away from the Gewiss Stadium.
Lookman has long been linked with a return to the Premier League, having experienced mixed spells with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City during the early stages of his career.
Since moving to Serie A, however, he has become a worldwide star, notching 52 goals and 21 assists in 118 appearances for Atalanta, with Spurs the latest club to join the race this summer.
Paul O’Keefe, a Spurs journalist who is close to the club, has explained what he knows about a potential deal.

After being asked about a potential deal for Lookman on X (1 September), O’Keefe responded: “Unlikely from what I heard, but it’s deadline day!” which led to fans calling the club a “joke”.
O’Keefe replied again, saying, “Lookman is being offered to everyone.
Loan with obligation or straight cash.”
Football Insider verdict
Daniel Levy has done incredibly well to back the new manager, something which he failed to do as Ange Postecoglou was thrown to the lions during his final season in North London.
Tottenham wanted to sign Eberechi Eze, but having suffered a hijack situation at the hands of their direct rivals, Arsenal, more attacking players could be signed before the transfer window slams shut.
Both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are bound to the treatment table, with Dominic Solanke‘s recent injury now feared to be worse than initially expected, even possibly needing surgery.

While Richarlison has hit the ground running so far this season, with two goals and an assist, his injury record is likely a concern with Premier League and Champions League football to consider.
Lookman, who can play out wide or through the middle, would offer a completely different type of attacker for Spurs, supporting the likes of Mathys Tel, Mohammed Kudus, Brennan Johnson, and Simons.
He may feel he has something to prove back in England, and Spurs could still give him that opportunity.
