Liverpool have taken the summer transfer window by storm this year, and it looks like they could yet do some more shopping at Fulham.

The Reds have already secured Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and record signing Florian Wirtz, while also completing the arrival of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Yet beneath these marquee additions lies a more strategic trend – Liverpool’s continued commitment to hoarding the best academy talent across Europe.

The club’s youth recruitment drive has been particularly aggressive this summer, with the signing of Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pesci from Puskas Akademia representing a perfect example of their forward-thinking approach.

The 20-year-old Golden Boy nominee joined for an initial €1.5 million, having established himself as Hungary’s top-flight first-choice goalkeeper with 30 appearances and helping his club to a second-place finish.

And another talent could be joining the ranks at the AXA soon.

The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg has reported that Liverpool are among other Premier League giants in attempting to sign 16-year-old Seth Ridgeon from Fulham this summer.

The midfielder is out of contract, and as a result the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea are jostling for his signature:

“Fulham yet to retain England U17 captain, Seth Ridgeon,” Steinberg wrote on X.

“Manchester United, Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea are all pursuing the 16-year-old midfielder who is yet to make a decision on his future.”

“Fulham not giving up hope of keeping him.”

This is not the first time the Reds have been linked with the teenager.

Born in September 2008, the versatile midfielder has already captained England at U17 level and was instrumental in their recent European Championship campaign in Albania.

He split his time between Fulham’s U18 and U21 teams this season.

His statistics speak volumes: seven appearances for the U18s yielding two goals and four assists, plus five appearances for the U21s contributing three goals in just 391 minutes of action.

These numbers explain why two of England’s biggest clubs are circling.

Fellow U17 England defender Malachi Hardy described Ridgeon before the U17 European Championships:

“He’s been our captain quite a bit and I’d say he’s a leader as well?

He’s a real box-to-box midfielder, and I think he’s probably going to be the main runner of the team, getting up and down tackling and hopefully scoring goals.”
