Fulham could soon snub the plan to re-sign Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson if they are able to seal a club-record move elsewhere.

Fulham supporters will have enjoyed last season under Marco Silva, as they improved on their showing in the previous campaign to finish 11th with 54 points in the Premier League.

The Cottagers did falter towards the end of last term, however, but the Portuguese boss has barely bolstered his squad as yet with veteran goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte as his only summer signing up to now.

Arsenal wide man Nelson spent last term on loan with the West London outfit, and he registered two goals and one assist in 12 games but saw his campaign end prematurely in December due to a serious hamstring injury.

Fulham have been keen on another loan for Nelson this summer as he seeks another move away from the Gunners, but they may have moved on from looking to sign him again amid exciting new developments on a different transfer.

Fulham currently have three senior, recognised wingers in their squad in Adama Traore, Harry Wilson and Alexander Iwobi, with the latter mainly deployed on the left flank while the former duo each play on the right.

Previous links to Nelson have indicated that Silva is clearly looking to bring another wide player in this summer, but they could be about to move on from the 25-year-old as they target a move for Shakhtar’s Brazilian forward Kevin.

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed, via X, that the Ukrainian side had turn down a bid worth €30million (£25.8m) plus add-ons from Fulham for Kevin, who has already registered four goals and two assists in three Europa League games so far this term.

Fulham soon saw another bid rejected for the 22-year-old [Fabrizio Romano], who can play on either side but is a left-winger by trade, and Romano’s latest update (13 August) stated that the Cottagers are still working on a deal to sign Kevin, with an agreement done on the player’s side and seemingly only a transfer fee to sort out from now.

The BBC have reported that Shakhtar are holding out for a £43m fee for the Brazilian winger, but there is an expectation that £39m may be enough to complete a move, which would represent a club-record figure for the West London outfit.

With that said, it certainly seems unlikely that Fulham will also make a move for Nelson if they are able to sign Kevin soon, and the fact they are plotting such a big-money transfer for the Shakhtar man points to a possibility that they have already chosen to move on from targeting the Arsenal man.

The Cottagers have sprung a surprise with their lack of transfer activity up to now, but they are clearly biding their time and not being pulled into needless bidding wars for players that they don’t even really need.

Silva is yet to lose any of his big-name players so far this summer, but that could soon be about to change with striker Rodrigo Muniz closing in on a move to Atalanta amid interest from Leeds.

Muniz’s departure is set to leave Fulham with just one senior centre-forward in Raul Jimenez, and so that is clearly an area that will need addressing as soon as possible alongside the potential capture of Kevin.

Silva is also arguably short of a central midfielder to provide competition to the likes of Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic, and Fulham were previously interested in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but were beaten to his signature by Everton, so need to buck their ideas up quickly to get signings in as the new season begins this weekend.
