Chelsea may be willing to help their rivals Fulham in order to offload Raheem Sterling this summer.
That is the view of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who told Football Insider exclusively that if the winger wants to remain in London, the Blues may have to take a hit financially to give him what he wants.
Raheem Sterling spent last season on loan at Arsenal, making just 17 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side in the Premier League, assisting twice and scoring none.
The winger is not in Chelsea‘s plans this season and was not involved in any of the club’s pre-season games, or either of their two opening matches of the 2025/26 season.
But despite his pedigree of being one of the best Premier League players of the 21st century, the Blues are struggling to find a suitor for the 30-year-old.
Pete O’Rourke revealed to Football Insider exclusively that Raheem Sterling’s wages are putting off clubs from signing the winger.

Raheem Sterling has interest from Fulham, although the Cottagers are in the market for several different options in wide areas.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley explained that Chelsea would likely have to help their West London neighbours out if they were to sell him to the Cottagers.
He said: “Wages are going to be the biggest factor with a player like that.

“He’s coming towards the end of his career, there’s other factors in there so you might be able to do a cut-price deal on a decent couple-of-years contract, something like that.
“But I think the likelihood is, yeah, you would be looking at the wage consideration and whether or not Chelsea can help Fulham out in there, in that regard.
“If he were to make that move, and that seems to me that’s the most likely in terms of how that would be set up if the player wants to stay in and around London, it is going to be a significant wage outlay.
“You would imagine they’d be asking Chelsea for a bit of support on that one.”
Sterling is not the only player the Cottagers are trying to sign from a Premier League rival this summer.
Fulham have an interest in Man United’s Rasmus Hojlund as they look to finally get their transfer business underway, having only signed Benjamin Lecomte from Montpellier.

And the pursuit of the Denmark international has been boosted as AC Milan, another suitor for the young striker, have agreed a deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.
It is unlikely that the Serie A side will sign two strikers this summer, giving Fulham a clear shot at landing Rasmus Hojlund.
