Liverpool will be looking to do one of the hardest jobs of them all and retain the title.

The Reds return to pre-season training in just under a month’s time and there will be a fair few new faces joining up with the squad.

Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez are expected to be the first three arrivals through the door at Anfield, although incomings are not supposed to stop there.

Liverpool are laying down a real marker to the rest of the league, with Arsenal and Manchester City trying to keep up with them in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have come close to winning the Premier League on a few occasions but could not get past Liverpool’s relentlessness, although they will certainly try again next season.

However, former striker Gabby Agbonlahor has made a bold prediction already surrounding their rivalry next season.

The Premier League fixtures have been announced and it is safe to say it is causing a bit of a stir online.

Liverpool might be quite happy with theirs, but Arsenal may not after being handed a rather tricky start, with the two sides set to meet in gameweek three.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor was giving his predictions on how he thinks Arsenal’s first six fixtures will go, believing that Liverpool will beat them.

“Manchester United away, first game of the season I’ve gone for a draw,” he said.

“Leeds at home, a win for Arsenal and Liverpool away, loss.”

He went on to give Arsenal one more win but another two losses, results that would leave them on just seven points from a possible 18.

Of course, Liverpool fans would love to agree with this and hope it happens, although it is still very early in the year and a lot will change between now and then.

Liverpool face Bournemouth on the opening day of the Premier League, with Wirtz set for his debut at Anfield.

The Reds then face Newcastle and Arsenal, before taking on Burnley after the international break.

To conclude the opening six, Liverpool will play their not-so-near rivals Everton and then Crystal Palace, with fans strongly believing they can take maximum points based on the players they have on display.

Pre-season and the transfer window is what the Reds will have to navigate next, but after that, attentions will swiftly turn to their title-defending campaign.
