Tottenham Hotspur have no chance of signing Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal this summer given the animosity between the two clubs.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson dismissed reports that Jesus could make a shock move across North London.
There’s no love lost between Arsenal and Tottenham and Spurs have the bragging rights at present, after their success in last season’s Europa League and a 1-0 pre-season friendly win in Hong Kong on 31 July.
Richarlison was hooked in the 63rd minute of Thursday’s victory as he closes in on a return to Brazil with Palmeiras, and Dominic Solanke’s absence from the squad altogether highlights Spurs’ need for a striker.
Jesus is still on the long road back to full fitness after his ACL injury last season and new signing Viktor Gyokeres is set to displace him as Arsenal’s starting number nine, casting further doubt over his future.
However, Robinson told Football Insider that talk of Jesus crossing the divide and signing for Spurs is “kite-flying journalism”, and argued that he won’t be the player to solve Tottenham’s striker problem.

This article contains exclusive comment from Paul Robinson, a football pundit and former England, Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper.
Man United’s former chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal do plan to move Jesus on if an appropriate offer is made before the end of the transfer window, potentially alerting the Lilywhites.
Speaking on the latest Inside Track, Robinson was asked about the prospect of Tottenham signing Jesus at any point in the near future, but was quick to point out that the North London rivals don’t do business.
“No, not at all – I can’t see that at all, who’s linked him with that?”, Robinson said to Football Insider.
“At 28 years old, I think Gabriel Jesus can still do a job – and Tottenham need somebody who can play as a number nine.
“[But] they won’t sign a player from Arsenal – deals between those two clubs are very, very rarely done.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did move on this season, but now they’ve got Gyokeres, he’s going to play.
He’s going to be the number nine, and with Havertz they’ve got cover in that position.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Jesus moves, but I think it’s kite-flying journalism to link him with Tottenham.
“Tottenham need direct cover, somebody else who can play as a nine instead of Dominic Solanke if squad rotation’s going to be a thing next season.
“But Gabriel Jesus?
that one’s not happening I’m afraid.”

Richarlison’s performance in Tottenham’s friendly win over Arsenal left fans certain that a new number nine is needed this summer, even if the Brazilian stays put and doesn’t complete his move to Palmeiras.
Solanke will likely be Thomas Frank’s go-to striker next season but needs support in the final third, particularly after Tottenham missed out on signing Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White.
Frank won’t want to use Mathys Tel up front unless absolutely necessary next season with skipper Son Heung-min potentially also on his way out, and it remains to be seen where Tottenham turn next in their efforts to finally sign a new centre-forward.
