The frankly bizarre transfer stories linking Galatasaray and Ryan Gravenberch do not seem to be going away.

After prior reports from Turkey suggested that Galatasaray were interested in the 21-year-old, a new claim from Aspor state that that the Super Liga giants are now intensifying their efforts to land Gravenberch.

Ryan Gravenberch’s path to Liverpool started in Ajax’s renowned youth academy, where he emerged as one of Europe’s most promising midfield talents.

Before turning 21, he had already made over 100 appearances for the Dutch club, showcasing his potential as a world-class talent.

A 2022 transfer to Bayern Munich did not pan out as Gravenberch would have expected.

He struggled to get game-time under Thomas Tuchel, with reports that the Dutchman was growing disillusioned in Bavaria.

As the summer transfer window was closing, Liverpool quickly moved to secure his services, paying Bayern Munich around €40 million to strengthen their midfield.

Although Gravenberch has yet to make a significant impact at Anfield, he hasn’t been a letdown either.

The 21-year-old has featured in 22 Premier League games this campaign, starting 11 of those matches.

Having struggled to settle at his previous club, it would not be a good image for Gravenberch to leave to quickly again at Anfield.

Additionally, the midfielder still has a career with the Dutch national team to think about, having made 11 caps already.

Galatasaray and Ryan Gravenberch – accelerating efforts

Aspor (via Sport Witness) have claimed that signing Gravenberch is a point of pride for Galatasaray as they want to make a ‘historical signing’ by acquiring a Liverpool – and one with the reputation and potential as Gravenberch has.

What’s more is that the Gala hierarchy are said to be ready to sit down with Liverpool chiefs over the potential signing.

It would be too hasty to dismiss Ryan Gravenberch at this stage.

This is still his first full season at the club, following a period of significant transition from Ajax to Bayern, and subsequently to Anfield.

Despite his youth, he has already earned 11 caps for the Netherlands and could potentially become an important player for Liverpool in the upcoming years.

Furthermore, Sky Germany have already reported that Gravenberch himself is focused on succeeding at Liverpool and ensuring he can become a first-team regular in the side.

For now, it seems we can dismiss these reports as being wide of the mark, but it is worrying that Gala interest seems to be reported on frequently in Turkey in recent weeks.
