Despite the hugely disappointing manner of the performance and result against Real Madrid, Liverpool head into this one in reasonable shape off the back of two consecutive league wins against Wolves and Arsenal either side of the international break while keeping two clean sheets in a row.

Gameweek 31 is here, which sees Liverpool take on Aston Villa at Anfield as they look to bounce back from Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final first leg disappointment against Real Madrid and continue to keep themselves within touching distance of the top four.

The fact he didn’t score against the best defence in the league last weekend shouldn’t diminish Iheanacho’s appeal, as he’s in a purple patch and has a tantalising run of games against West Brom (H), Crystal Palace (H), Southampton (A) and Newcastle United (H) up next after West Ham.

Still, despite their chronic inconsistency this season, Liverpool’s remaining fixtures between now and the end of the campaign are too appealing to ignore from an FPL perspective, and the upside if they do perform to the level they’re capable of is enormous.

Wolves’ next five fixtures are glorious on paper: Fulham (A), Sheffield United (H), Burnley (H), West Bromwich Albion (A), Brighton & Hove Albion (H).

It would be wise to free up sufficient funds to double up with Mohamed Salah as well, as the Egyptian’s quality is such that he can score regardless of whether Liverpool turn up (as proven against Real Madrid), and he has the added motivation of chasing Harry Kane for the Golden Boot.

Fresh from scoring his first Champions League goal for Chelsea against Porto on Wednesday night, Mount should be heading into this weekend’s away fixture against Crystal Palace brimming with confidence.
