England boss Gareth Southgate has revealed he has been holding regular heart-to-heart conversations with Trent Alexander-Arnold. Southgate has recalled the Liverpool full back to his squad for next month’s Euro qualifiers with Malta and North Macedonia. The call-up comes after the defender wasn't included for March's qualifying double-header against Italy and Ukraine. The 24-year-old is enjoying a new lease of life at as an 'inverted full back' who regularly pushes into midfield. And Southgate has revealed that could end up playing his new role for England.

“That’s why I felt it was important to call him as I have done in the past.
