Chelsea appear to have done their homework on Man United’s Alejandro Garnacho as Enzo Maresca looks to make further additions this summer.
The Blues have already added Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, and Liam Delap to the forward line, with these moves throwing doubt over Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson’s futures at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca’s side are coming off the back of an incredible Club World Cup campaign, which saw the club earn £84million after their final victory over PSG, and that is likely to have funded most of their deals.
Still, the West London club are not finished in the summer transfer market just yet, and Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this month that Man United are ready to slash Garnacho’s transfer fee.
The 21-year-old is on the lookout for a new Premier League club after a massive fallout with Ruben Amorim following his very public comments, but a move for RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons could throw a spanner in the works.

According to The Telegraph (31 July), the Blues have completed their homework on the Argentine, completing background checks on the player’s character and personality.

This comes after the winger clashed with Man United manager, Amorim, but it is believed that Chelsea are comfortable with their findings, now waiting on outgoings and the green light from United.
Maresca’s side have also held talks over signing 22-year-old Simons, though it is being reported that signing the exciting Dutchman would not shut the door on Garnacho if the room can be made.

Football Insider verdict
After winning the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup titles in recent weeks, supporters back at Stamford Bridge are expecting so much more success from the ever-changing team next season.
With Champions League football back in West London, having missed out during the 2023/24 season, and a number of new and exciting players, the Blues are tipped for more trophies under the manager.
However, before the final preparations can begin ahead of the new Premier League campaign, deadwood needs to be removed from the squad, and it is very clear which players are not cut out for the club.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Fulham is Raheem Sterling’s preferred destination this summer, having spent last season out on loan with Arsenal, though it was not a successful 12 months at all.
Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, Nkunku, and Jackson are all expected to leave before the window shuts, but it will not be easy getting them off the books.
Multiple exits would certainly open up spots in the squad for both Garnacho and Simons, and finances should not be an issue following their success over in America at the Club World Cup.
