Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer agree that Liverpool will retain their Premier League crown this season.

As a result of their business in the transfer window, both Lineker and Shearer believe that Liverpool are in good stead to retain their title this season.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Lineker said: "I think they're going to win it again.

Liverpool have already seen an offer of £110m plus add-ons for the Swede rebuffed, given that United value him at a minimum of £150m.

But with just three weeks left of the current window, Liverpool may return any day with an improved offer to secure Isak for the season ahead.

The star has missed the entirety of pre-season with Newcastle and finds himself in a difficult position.

It is reported that Newcastle are firm on their valuation and that they will only sell Isak should they find a suitable replacement for the forward, who scored 23 Premier League goals last season.

Shearer added: "If [Liverpool] were to get him, the options they'd have up top would just be incredible.

It took Ekitike just four minutes to score his first goal in the Red of Liverpool, delicately placing the ball past Dean Henderson from the edge of the box with his right foot.

Jean-Philippe Mateta levelled the score on the 17-minute mark after coolly converting from the spot, before Frimpong pulled Liverpool back in front just four minutes later with a dinked chip from the right-hand side of the pitch.

Ismaila Sarr squared the game once again with 13 minutes to play, bouncing the ball off the right post past Alisson from inside the box before wheeling off in celebration.

With the game at a deadlock, a tense penalty shootout was the only thing left to separate last season's Premier League and FA Cup winners.

Liverpool and Slot will now turn their attention to their Premier League opener with Bournemouth at Anfield come Friday, August 15.
