Gary Lineker has congratulated Manchester City after two of their players were announced as the Premier League's player and young player of the season, holding off a challenge from Liverpool.

Writing about the announcement on social media, Lineker said: "Congratulations to @DeBruyneKev on being voted Premier League player of the season.
Liverpool supporters will be hoping that City's Premier League award double is the last form of silverware heading to the Etihad this season.
Alexander-Arnold also made the shortlist for the Young Player of the Season award, but that honour has been bestowed on De Bruyne's City team-mate Foden.
Congratulating Foden, amid a crowded field of talent, Lineker tweeted: Congratulations to @PhilFoden on being voted Premier League young player of the year.
Belgian midfielder Keven De Bruyne has been declared the Premier League Player of the Season while his English team-mate Phil Foden has picked up the Young Player of the Season accolade.
Salah's Liverpool team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold was also shortlisted for the award.
