Gary Lineker has praised "magnanimous" Harvey Elliott for looking beyond his injury to criticise Pascal Struijk's three-game ban.

Struijk's challenge during Sunday's Premier League clash between Leeds United and Liverpool resulted in Elliott suffering a dislocated ankle.

Was Harvey Elliott's injury caused by a "freak accident" or is Pascal Struijk's red card and three-game ban justified?

"Neither was it a red card just a freak accident but these things happen in football.

The 22-year-old was shown a straight red card and he is suspended for the next three fixtures after Leeds were unsuccessful in their appeal to the Football Association.

"Hope this is not as serious an injury to Harvey Elliott as it appears," wrote Lineker.

"[It] wasn’t his fault whatsoever," Elliott wrote in an Instagram post earlier this week.
