Gary Neville faces selling one of Salford City's best young players to either Liverpool or Manchester City.
Young Salford striker Will Wright has emerged as a target for the two fiercest rivals of Neville's former club, Manchester United, and there is also interest in the 17-year-old from a number of other Premier League clubs.
Wright is in the second year of a scholarship at Salford, and the Daily Mail reports that Liverpool has made Wright an offer to move to Anfield, while City is said to be readying an offer worth £100,000 ($137,000) plus add-ons.
Arsenal, Brentford and Burnley are also said to be monitoring the situation, but Wright is reported to prefer a move to Liverpool.

The teenager, who came on as a substitute in Salford's FA Cup defeat by City last season, scored over 50 goals across all levels for Salford during the 2024-25 campaign.
Neville and David Beckham completed a full takeover of Salford as part of a new consortium in May, buying out the rest of the Class of '92.
In other Liverpool-related transfer news, the Reds have rejected an approach from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz.
Diaz is coming off the back of his best season as a Liverpool player but has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, with Bayern among them.
The Bavarian club's attempts to land the Liverpool No.7 look to have failed, though, with The Times' Paul Joyce reporting that the Reds have once again refused to entertain an approach
Will Wright is set to leave Salford
Liverpool is keen to keep hold of Diaz but there is little expectation that he will sign an extension to his current contract at Anfield, which is due to expire in 2027.
Liverpool has reportedly attempted to address Diaz's contract situation but little progress has been made, and rather than sell him this summer, the club would prefer to maximize his performance value over the next two years and allow him to leave for nothing following the 2026-27 season.
Diaz is currently on the same terms that he agreed when he signed for Liverpool in January 2022
But he was an important player for Arne Slot's team this season and Sky Sports claimed earlier this year that Liverpool was set to offer a deal that reflected his status.
A new deal, though, doesn't appear to be in the offing, and unless something changes in the next couple of years, Diaz is on course to leave for nothing in two years' time, when he will be 30 years old.
