Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville admitted he was left surprised by the Anfield response to Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The outgoing Reds full-back was subjected to jeers after being introduced against Arsenal.
The 26-year-old was booed by supporters in L4 after replacing Conor Bradley during the latter stages against the North London club.
Alexander-Arnold's introduction came during a period of ascendancy for the Gunners, which saw them restore parity after trailing to two first-half goals.
Mikel Merino ghosted beyond Alexander-Arnold, with the Liverpool defender playing the Spain midfielder onside, to level proceedings.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot revealed in his pre-match press conference that the Northern Irishman would deputise in Alexander-Arnold's place.
Before kick-off against the Reds' nearest challengers, Alexander-Arnold's name was jeered as the substitutes were announced.
He was introduced midway through the second-half but was immediately greeted by boos, leaving Neville on co-commentary stunned.

He said: "Well, that's not pleasant for him.
It's fair to say there's a solitary poster, a few boos for Alexander-Arnold.
"I was actually thinking about the boos for Trent Alexander-Arnold, I'm not sure what I was thinking going into today, I wasn't expecting him to be as widely booed as he has been.
"Maybe it's shocked him, he's closer to it."
Slot confirmed pre-match that the England defender was left out due to his decision to leave the club.
"No not a reaction, the fact that he's leaving, that's one of the reasons to play Conor," he said.
"But not a reaction, if that crossed my mind maybe I'd have taken him out of the squad.
"I think the people expect me to bring a squad where there is a chance to win the game, the fans want this, the players want to win the game so I have to select a team capable to do so.
"If Conor is not ready to play 90 then I am happy that I can bring Trent on if needed."
The Dutchman added: "It's difficult for me, everyone at Liverpool has a different opinion on that..

"Some fans [will say] we have to give him what he deserved in terms of what he did for the club and there are fans who are more negative about him leaving the club.
"I don't know how they're going to react.
"What do I know, the best way to help us and the team is to help everyone who wears a Liverpool shirt."
