Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will have some big regrets when the season is over, according to Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

In matches against Manchester United, Man City, and Liverpool, Arsenal have picked up just five points, while title rivals Liverpool have continued their perfect start to the season.

Gary Neville has highlighted one regret from those matches that Arteta will have when the title race comes to a head.

He names that team [to play Man City] on Friday or Thursday afternoon in training, and he leaves out [Eberechi] Eze and [Gabriel] Martinelli, and he puts in [Leandro] Troassard and [Mikel] Merino.

“I guarantee you that dressing room that dressing room are looking at him straight away and thinking, ‘You’ve done it again, you did this at Anfield, a little bit at Old Trafford, but certainly at Anfield he could’ve been more attacking and he wasn’t.

“Certainly against City from the start, he could’ve been attacking, he’s going to regret this if he doesn’t start to take the handbrake off, because he’s got players there who need to start in these games.”

Arsenal have added numerous new faces to their squad this summer, with Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, and Martin Zubimendi all making early-season contributions.

The rewards of Arsenal’s summer acquisitions were reaped against Man City, with Arteta able to bring Martinelli off the bench against tired legs, eventually getting the Gunners’ equaliser.

Martinelli has been Arteta’s go-to super sub, scoring and assisting in Arsenal’s late win against Athletic Club in the Champions League as well as against Man City.

As Arteta’s added depth pays dividends, the Spaniard will know he needs to show more aggression from the off if Arsenal are to seriously mount a Premier League title charge this season.
