Gary Neville has urged Chelsea to make a move in the market that could cause controversy, particularly with rivals Tottenham.
Chelsea’s transfer recruitment has been criticised recently, with the side’s defence coming under scrutiny after a string of mistakes.
The Blues were busy in the summer window, with Alejandro Garnacho signing for Chelsea from Man United, along with the likes of Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.
However, Enzo Maresca’s side have seen a mixed start to the campaign as they have drawn twice and lost once in the Premier League, as well as losing their first fixture in the Champions League.
Now, Man United legend Neville has suggested a signing that could take them beyond their current level, in a move that could cause controversy given the intense rivalry with Spurs.

Speaking on The Overlap [25 September], Neville suggested that Harry Kane could make a move to Chelsea, if he were to return to the Premier League.
He said: “Chelsea are the club that I can see him having the biggest impact in and shooting most.

“If you look at the team at the moment and you think what’s missing, they have got a lack of sort of what would be prominence up front, and they’ve got a lot of energy and enthusiasm and potential around it with Palmer and all the rest of them.
However, he also questioned the feasibility of a deal and added, “He would be great at Chelsea as a player, but can he go to Chelsea because of the rivalry?”
This comes days after Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank saying he would “like” to see Kane return, if he were to leave Bayern Munich.
A switch to the west side of London, though, is something that Spurs fans don’t even want to think about.
Kane has been ‘unstoppable’ ever since his move to Germany in 2023, with the striker netting 98 times in 103 appearances in all competitions.

Tottenham hold a first-refusal clause for Kane, should another club agree a fee with Bayern.
If that club is Chelsea, there should be no hesitation to avoid losing their legend to their fiercest rivals.
Former chief scout Mick Brown also revealed that Kane would be willing to return to the Premier League.
He is 48 goals away from breaking Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record of 260, which could tempt an exit.
While Chelsea have brought in Pedro, a world-class striker such as Kane rarely becomes available, and an approach should be on the agenda.
Whether or not Neville’s suggestion is immediately shut down by Spurs if they activate the clause remains to be seen.
