Liverpool are making their final preparations for Sunday's huge game against Manchester United.

The Reds face their fierce rivals in a top-of-the-table clash at Anfield and the focus is on both sides ahead of the contest.

Here is a digest of the latest Liverpool headlines in the build-up to the fixture.

Pogba makes Liverpool claim

Paul Pogba says everyone at Manchester United is aware of how big Sunday's game against Liverpool is.

The Reds will be aiming to go level on points with the Premier League leaders at the halfway mark of the season when the two clubs meet on Sunday.

Whilst Pogba stressed that every game is a big game for both clubs, this match matters more than most - even if it does not decide the outcome of the league title alone.

Pogba said: “We know the story. We know it’s Liverpool. Everybody knows it.

"When you arrive in Manchester you know the story about Liverpool and Manchester United. We know it’s a big game.

"We know they’re second, they know we’re first. We know if we win we have six points (on them), everybody knows that.

"It’s not the game, yes it’s a game and it’s going to be a hard game. But I don’t think this game will decide the league. I know it’s going to make a difference, but it won’t decide the league.

"I know it’s an important game, but all the games are. We don’t have to make it too much about ‘ah it’s the game’. It’s Liverpool and when it’s Liverpool it’s always a big game.

"When you play at United there are always big games but this one is a battle. It’s going to be a battle."

Fergie admission

Mark Clattenburg has confirmed the influence Sir Alex Ferguson would have on referees when Manchester United boss.

In shooting down Jurgen Klopp's view that United currently get easier penalties than other teams, Clattenburg conceded that used to be the case when Ferguson was in charge.

"He is wrong to suggest there is an aura around United that sees them given favourable decisions," said the former referee.

"There used to be when Fergie (Alex Ferguson) was there, but that has eased massively since he left.

"I am the only referee to give three penalties to the opposition at Old Trafford, and that was for Liverpool, of all teams, in 2014.

"But David Moyes was manager - I'm not sure that would have happened when Fergie was there!"

Gerrard makes Robertson's life difficult

Andy Robertson has joked that Steven Gerrard is making life difficult for the left-back at Liverpool.

The Reds legend is on course to lead Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title, ending Celtic's hopes of 10 in a row.

Speaking on Jamie Carragher's Greatest Game podcast, Robertson admitted it is jarring to be in a position where he may not want Gerrard to succeed.

"Well it's done isn't it - it's in the bag," Robertson said of the Scottish title race.

"No pressure, just wrap it up now. Obviously it's a difficult situation coming into Liverpool training ground where everyone loves Stevie and wants him to do well. I want him to do well, but I'm a Celtic fan and I've been brought up not to like Rangers!"
