Georginio Wijnaldum has officially been revealed as a Paris Saint-Germain player following his Liverpool exit.

The Dutchman will officially leave the Reds at the end of the month when his Anfield contract expires.

Wijnaldum agents met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta twice two-weeks ago to discuss a three-year deal at Camp Nou.

It had looked as though he would be set to sign for the Catalan side, but PSG are believed to have turned Wijnaldum's head, not least with a more lucrative offer.

Wijnaldum has signed a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 side and is expected to join up with his new club following Holland's Euro 2020 campaign.

Speaking on his move, the Dutchman said: “Signing for Paris Saint-Germain is a new challenge for me.

“I’m joining one of the best squads in Europe and I want to bring all my desire and commitment to this ambitious project.

"Paris Saint-Germain have proved how good they are in recent years and I am convinced that together, with our supporters, we can go even further and higher.”

While speaking earlier this week, Wijnaldum revealed how the Liverpool dressing room reacted to his decision to leave the club this summer.

"Now is not the time to talk about Liverpool and the reason I left," he told Dutch publication Voetbal International.

"Someday I will do that, after the tournament. Then it will become clear to everyone why things went the way they did.

"That's the problem, people look at it from the outside and don't understand it. There are many supporters who ask me why I didn't just accept Liverpool's offer to extend my contract.

"But that's not all of course. It's about much more than that. Things happen behind the scenes that are beyond your control as a player.

"I'll explain that after the tournament, because now only Oranje counts. What I do want to say is that the people at the training complex, the employees of the club and my fellow players would have liked to keep me.

"I did tell them more. After that they completely understood my decision. That's important to me."
