Jack Grealish has been tipped by a former teammate to join Tottenham over other potential suitors Everton and Napoli.

Outside of all the chatter of strikers, the next trending topic is where the England international will end up this summer after being seemingly out of Pep Guardiola’s plans.

The 29-year-old started just seven matches in the Premier League last campaign, strongly suggesting his time may be up at the Etihad.

The former Aston Villa starboy has been tipped to join a few teams including Everton with David Moyes seeking to sign Grealish on-loan.

Another team desperate for a number 10 following the injury to James Maddison is Tottenham who are also interested in Grealish as a replacement for their midfield magician.

Speaking on talkSPORT (7 August), presenter Ade Oladipo quizzed ex-Villa teammate and “friend” of the Englishman Gabby Agbonlahor about where the 29-year-old should go next.

The presenter asked the retired striker: “Napoli have been linked with [Jack] Grealish, Everton have been linked with Grealish as well and [David] Moyes will sell him that project “look you’re going to be our guy”, and Spurs.

“If you’re Grealish which one is the better there of those three?”

The former pacey forward replied: “I would go to Spurs.

“I think stay in the Premier League, even though I do like players that try different leagues, but a team like Spurs are going to be playing Champions League football, it’s a no-brainer to stay in the Premier League.

“Thomas Frank as well, I’m sure, he will love to have a player like Jack Grealish, his quality that he has got.”

Football Insider verdict

Due to the major blow to Maddison on top of the pre-existing absence of creative spark Dejan Kulusevski, the Lilywhites are in a perilous position.

Still, the unwanted City man could be the key to solving their attacking-midfield problem and it would be surprising if the Englishman turned down the opportunity to be the main man come start of the season.

Having been moulded to become a system player under Guardiola, the 29-year-old could break his chains under Frank and become a major focal point in the attack.

Historically, the Cityzen has excelled in a number 10 role early on in his career and a return to the position that put him on the footballing map could be precisely what he needs.

Wages seem to a problematic road block to Grealish venturing away from Manchester this summer yet, by taking a pay cut he could guarantee himself regular minutes for the upcoming campaign.

Similar to him, Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan, taking a pay cut in the process.

Perhaps his compatriot should learn from the Man United man and take a hit to revive his stop-start career.
