'Going well': Dean Huijsen addresses transfer talk as Liverpool insiders rate their chances of signing £50m man

Liverpool’s key transfer targets are starting to become clearer as the summer window edges closer.

The Reds have plenty of work to do in the market having kept their powder dry throughout 2024.

With a new centre-back finally on the agenda, Dean Huijsen is one of the players to have been relentlessly linked to Liverpool over recent weeks.

Huijsen has had an excellent season at Bournemouth, announcing himself as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old caught the eye once again on Saturday, nodding home an equaliser against Arsenal and setting the Cherries on their way to a 2-1 win.

And facing up to the Sky Sports cameras after the game, Huijsen was asked how he is managing to deal with all the speculation over his future.

Recent reports have claim that Liverpool have been speaking to Huijsen’s agents about a summer switch to Anfield.

However, the Reds are far from the only ones to take an interest in the Spaniard.

It seems as though half of the Premier League are trying to push to the front of the queue.

Asked how he is coping with all the noise around his future, though, Huijsen told Sky that he is taking it all in his stride.

“I think I’m pretty relaxed, just a chill guy,” the centre-back answered.

“I don’t really think about it too much, I just go to training every morning.

“I just enjoy my football, enjoy myself and at the moment I’m just having fun playing football.

It’s going well so I’m really happy.”

There have been conflicting reports about where Huijsen is likely to end up this summer.

While Liverpool are clearly in the mix, the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and even Real Madrid are seemingly in there too.

And according to a report from The Athletic this week, Liverpool actually believe Chelsea are the current front-runners.

There is said to be ‘serious competition’ for Huijsen, with the Reds believing they have fallen behind their Premier League rivals in the race.

With Huijsen clearly relaxed about the situation, and plenty of time in which to strike a deal, there’s no need for Liverpool to concede defeat just yet.

But having lost out to Chelsea in deals for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia in recent years, Reds supporters may be getting that sinking feeling once again.
