“The boy, Nunez, I think he will be an outstanding success,” he told talkSPORT.

The Reds striker recently made his first two appearances for the club following his £64million transfer from Benfica.

And speaking ahead of Liverpool’s opening game of the season against Fulham on Saturday, former Liverpool captain Souness can only see good things happening for the forward at Anfield.

Nunez played half an hour in the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, and then a similar length of time in the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
