Despite their season being yet to end, Liverpool have begun making some serious waves in the transfer market.
The Reds had been expected to be busy this summer and with May still rumbling on, they have made good on that already.
Jeremie Frimpong is set to arrive from Bayer Leverkusen once the window officially opens and on Friday it emerged that there is a real chance teammate Florian Wirtz could join him.
Frimpong and Wirtz are close friends and Liverpool now look likely to take them both to Anfield next season.
With Liverpool confident of signing Wirtz, all that is left is to agree a transfer fee with Leverkusen.
As straightforward as that may sound, it is going to be incredibly expensive for the Reds to pull off.
But after reaching an agreement with the player, Liverpool are now in direct contact with his club and are trying to find a solution quickly.

Liverpool had not been expected to be top of the pile when it came to Wirtz this summer.
Having courted him for a long number of years, it felt most likely that Bayern Munich would get the German talent.
Failing that, Manchester City were supposed to be in pole position.

Real Madrid have even been mentioned and with Xabi Alonso set to join the European champions that seemed all the more plausible.
But despite the massive competition, it is Liverpool who appear set to win the day.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, though, the Reds are trying to move quickly in order to head off any last minute hijacks.

“Liverpool have made formal approach to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz!” Romano reports on X.
“After initial green light from the player, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are in talks over transfer fee/package.
“Liverpool want the deal to be done very soon, not a long saga — to avoid surprises.”
The Wirtz news has also been confirmed this evening by The Times, who have added a little more colour into proceedings.
It has been claimed that Arne Slot played a decisive factor in swaying Wirtz towards Liverpool and The Times go one step further with this narrative.
They suggest the 22-year-old has been ‘impressed by Liverpool’s ambitious plans’ under Slot and how they plan to build on this year’s Premier League title win.
Wirtz’s friendship with Frimpong is also given as a factor, with the pair said to have been taking lifts together to training, where they sat next to one another in the changing room.
Some detail on the fee Liverpool could be expected to pay is given, too.
