There is currently little prospect of Liverpool signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid this summer, Rousing The Kop understands.
The Reds have been linked with Alvarez as Arne Slot searches for a new centre-forward in the transfer market.
However, despite admiration from Liverpool‘s end, RTK understands that the Argentine is currently happy with life in Madrid and is not planning to move on.
Alvarez has scored 29 goals in his debut season for Atletico, underlining his status as a potential difference-maker at Liverpool.
The Reds are on the verge of signing Florian Wirtz to bolster their forward options next season, but unless there is a dramatic change of pace, Alvarez is not expected to join the German at Anfield.

In a transfer window where Liverpool are set to beat the German champions to Germany’s best talent, nothing can ever be completely ruled out.
And while that is also true with the possibility of Alvarez coming to Liverpool, journalist Graeme Bailey has exclusively confirmed to RTK that the addition of the World Cup winner would be a major surprise at this point.
“I don’t see that,” says Bailey.
“He wanted to leave England and go to Spain so I’d be amazed if he wanted to come back.
I really would.”

“He’s had a very good season at Atletico, we could see [Cristian] Romero go there, maybe [Alejandro] Garnacho, it’s going to be a proper Argentinian love-in really, so I’d be amazed if he wanted to come back to England.”

“I don’t think he was particularly settled in the north west,” adds the journalist.
“I think he’s enjoyed his time with Atletico so far and it’s only his first season in Spain.”
With Alvarez currently on the back-burner, there are still plenty of other options for Liverpool.
RTK understands that the Reds could still target a central striker despite the likely addition of Wirtz.
And as revealed on Friday, Liverpool have the finances to sign both Wirtz and Alexander Isak if green lights are given from the two players.
In the meantime, it’s understood that Victor Osimhen is still yet to be ruled out by Liverpool’s recruitment team.
More signings are set to arrive at Anfield, and there will be more twists and turns ahead, so perhaps it is wise to expect the unexpected.
