'Hanging his head': Owen Hargreaves says another Liverpool star besides Mo Salah looked so annoyed yesterday

Liverpool have suffered another huge blow in their hopes of winning the Premier League title after drawing 2-2 at West Ham on Saturday.

The Reds were hoping to bounce back immediately in Saturday’s early kick-off after their dismal 2-0 loss to Everton in midweek.

However, things didn’t go well in the first half at the London Stadium as Jarrod Bowen broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute.

Liverpool did improve after the break and initially turned the game around, with Andrew Robertson and a Tomas Soucek own goal putting them in front.

The Reds couldn’t hang on though.

Michail Antonio equalised in the 77th minute, and the hosts held on for a share of the spoils.

It has been a frustrating month for Liverpool, whose dreams of winning three trophies in one season have been cruelly dashed.

It would take a huge collapse from both Arsenal and Manchester City to let the Reds back in the title race, and then you had the dismal aggregate loss to Atalanta in the Europa League.

Owen Hargreaves, covering the West Ham v Liverpool game on Premier League Productions, noted how one of the Reds’ main stars looked so frustrated at full time.

He wasn’t referring to Mohamed Salah, who had that big touchline disagreement with Jurgen Klopp.

Hargreaves said, as per the Premier League website: “[On Liverpool title chances] Done and dusted.

“You just saw Van Dijk hanging his head there, just annoyed, frustrated.

“I know he won’t be keen on farewells and goodbye but it’s nice to see all the [West Ham] players giving Klopp a hug.

“Disappointing for Liverpool, they should’ve won that game today.

It’s been the last few weeks struggling to get it over the line.”

A season that promised so much for Liverpool has all-but crumbled, and the Reds probably won’t add to their Carabao Cup triumph this term.

And with Klopp set to leave Anfield at the end of the season, there’s almost a feeling that Liverpool will need to go back to the drawing board in the summer and rebuild.
