Luis Diaz’s name keeps popping up in the Spanish press, and once again, it’s Barcelona leading the headlines.

The Catalan club has been circling for a while, but things have picked up with the summer window nearing.

For Liverpool fans, this is nothing new.

Since Diaz joined from Porto back in January 2022, he’s been linked to the Camp Nou more times than most can count.

Despite his performances, his medals, and his clear joy in playing for the Reds, the transfer talk refuses to die.

The timing feels familiar too.

His contract still runs until 2027, but negotiations for a new deal have slowed down.

That’s fuel for speculation in any league—let alone with a club like Barcelona involved.

They’re rebuilding again under Hansi Flick and clearly need a wide player.

Diaz fits the bill, and they’ve admitted it publicly.

Now, with Flick speaking out, things just got more interesting.

But what exactly did he say?

In his final pre-match press conference of the season, Barcelona boss Hansi Flick was asked about several names, including Liverpool winger Luis Diaz.

With Barcelona needing reinforcements out wide, Diaz is one of the players being seriously considered.

Flick didn’t deny the links, but chose his words carefully.

“I don’t want to talk about players who aren’t on my team,” he said.

“But they’re both fantastic, I like them, and we’ll see what happens.

They’re fantastic.”

That was in reference to both Diaz and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford—two players Barcelona are watching closely.

When asked about the club’s transfer plans, Flick confirmed that signing a winger is a top priority.

“That’s what we talked about,” he explained.

“In the last few games we haven’t had many options for those positions.”

“We will study the options.”

Barcelona sporting director Deco doubled down earlier this week, telling RAC1, “We like Luis [Diaz], we like [Marcus] Rashford and we like other players.”

He added, “From what we’ve seen this season, we need a player with a different profile to what we have to help the strikers.”

Liverpool fans will hope the club moves fast on the contract talks.

Diaz has been important for Arne Slot—and with Barca watching, the clock is ticking.
