Elliott showcased his talent during the summer with a string of standout performances for England at the Under-21 European Championships, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
Despite his form on the international stage, the former Fulham man has not started any of Liverpool’s first three Premier League matches this season, making just two substitute appearances.
He came off the bench late on at St James’ Park and played a pivotal role in Rio Ngumoha’s dramatic winner.
Elliott has hinted that this could be the right time to seek a new challenge and has openly discussed his future in recent months.
“If I had my way, I’d be at Liverpool for the rest of my career,” he told the Anfield Wrap during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia.
“I love everything about the club.
My main focus is here, unless anything changes.”
The Reds have already seen several key first-team players depart in recent months, selling the likes of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, and Caoimhín Kelleher.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are set to resist any late attempts to sign Harvey Elliott before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Arne Slot is determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old for the season ahead.
West Ham United expressed interest earlier in the summer, while Premier League champions have also held discussions with RB Leipzig regarding a potential deal linked to Xavi Simons’ future.
However, the Reds are planning their campaign with Elliott firmly in their plans.
The club would only consider a departure if an offer arrived that represented a significant profit on the midfielder, who joined from Fulham in 2019 for around £4million following a tribunal ruling.
