Liverpool have officially confirmed that Harvey Elliott will spend the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Aston Villa.

Elliott had held talks with RB Leipzig last month, with the Bundesliga side expected to pursue him following Xavi Simons’ anticipated departure to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

However, Villa have moved quickly to secure the England youth international instead.

Opportunities for Elliott at Liverpool have been limited since Arne Slot took charge as head coach last summer.

Opening up on his future, Elliott, told The Anfield Wrap during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia:”If I had it my way I would be here for the rest of my career, it’s as simple as that.

“I love everything about the club, but at the same time I kind of need to be selfish and see what’s best for me.

“I have big ambitions.

It’s something I still need to review.”

Villa, having qualified for the Europa League, are being creative with their transfer dealings to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have already generated over £200million in sales this summer.

This has helped offset a spending spree exceeding £ 300million, which will increase further with the £125million signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
