That loan deal included an obligation to buy the Englishman for £35million next year if the midfielder plays at least 10 games.
Elliott made his debut for Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend, and he also started for the Villains last night in the Carabao Cup against Brentford.
That means he only has to play eight more games to depart Liverpool for good next summer.
Unai Emery is showing a clear intention to play the 22-year-old, meaning it will only be a matter of time before the clause is met.
Last night, Harvey Elliott, scored his first goal for Aston Villa, and in doing so, broke the club’s drought of not having scored yet in the new season.
A moment that will not only fill Elliott with confidence, but also his teammates.
Villa’s new No.9 sat behind striker Donyell Malen and between Jadon Sncho and Evann Guessand, with John McGinn and Lamre Bogarde playing as the deep midfielders behind Elliott.
Heading into the match, Villa were the only side in England’s top seven leagues yet to find the back of the net, but Harvey Elliott ended that wait for a goal just before half-time.
McGinn set off the move, forcing the ball to fall nicely for Elliott after a mistake from a Brentford defender.
The former Liverpool midfielder met the stray ball first time, forcing his shot to squirm under the goalkeeper’s legs and into the back of the net.
Whilst it was a brilliant individual moment for Harvey Elliott, his goal that put his side ahead was cancelled out in the second half by Brentford’s Aaron Hickey, and the London side went on to knock Aston Villa out on penalties.
Harvey Elliott summed his feelings up in a social media post after the game:
“Glad to get off the mark last night but unfortunate to go out?
