Harvey Elliott is dealing "outstandingly" with the horror injury that has stalled his Liverpool career - as the reaction of his team-mates emerged.

Elliott last week underwent an operation to repair the fracture dislocation of his left ankle suffered during the Reds' 3-0 Premier League win at Leeds United earlier this month.

"For young players, it's really important in the right games with the right players around them, that there is still stability, that there is still a clear way of playing that we can push them.

And Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders is confident the togetherness of the Reds squad can help Elliott on his road to recovery.

The more games we play in a season the better, because that means we are progressing and if we are progressing we get better games, and if we get better games the more pressure and we become a better team because we learn and adapt, we create the experiences with our team."

“Harvey is Harvey, a young boy and he deals with it outstandingly, I have to say,” said Lijnders, speaking on Monday.
