Harvey Elliott is planning on making the most of his time off before linking back up with Liverpool, when he looks set to face a big decision on his future.

The 22-year-old has put his frustrations surrounding the lack of game time afforded to him back at Anfield firmly behind him this summer after playing a starring role in England defending its UEFA European U21 Championship crown.

Elliott scored his fifth goal of the tournament as the Young Lions beat Germany 3-2 in Saturday’s final, with the midfielder’s efforts throughout his nation’s run seeing him win the Player of the Tournament award, and raise more questions over his future.

The Liverpool star is facing more and more calls to leave Anfield this summer - a prospect he has already hinted could be a possibility after finding his opportunities limited by Arne Slot during the 2024/25 campaign.

Having become a regular under Jurgen Klopp the previous season, Elliott would start just six games in a total of 28 appearances during Slot’s first year in charge.

He is yet to make the step up to the senior England team, although he wouldn’t have done his chances of earning that first cap any harm recently, with Thomas Tuchel in attendance to see him scoring again on Saturday.

"It's never going to be easy because of the talent that's in the team – world-class players from top to bottom," Elliott said on breaking into the England senior team.

"It's never going to be easy, as I said, but it's just about me working hard, trying to show it at club level and hopefully getting the opportunity.
