Harvey Elliott has sent a heartfelt message to Jarell Quansah following confirmation of his transfer.
The defender departed Liverpool for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £35m in total with the inclusion of a buy-back clause for the future.
As well as sharing an U21 European Championship triumph with England, last weekend, Elliott and Quansah struck up a close bond as Liverpool teammates over the two seasons since they returned from their respective loans at Blackburn Rovers and Bristol City.
In that time they had also contributed Jurgen Klopp's 2024 Carabao Cup success and Arne Slot's mission to win the latest Premier League campaign.
But the 22-year-old duo have been split up at club level as a result of Quansah's decision to leave, to which Elliott has responded with a poignant message.

"My brother @jarellquansah.
Love ya best of luck [four red heart emojis]," the midfielder's Instagram story read, alongside of a picture of both players celebrating the Reds' latest Premier League triumph at Anfield.
Despite the chance of returning, in the future, Quansah has opted to leave Liverpool in search of more game-time, perhaps with one eye on a promotion to England's senior team for next summer's FIFA World Cup.
He made 28 appearances but, with 822 minutes played overall, he averaged only 29.3 minutes per outing.

Liverpool have signed German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz for £100m, potentially rising to a British record £116m, already this summer to increase competition for Elliott's favoured position, so it may very well be that he joins Quansah in seeking out a new club.
Various Premier League sides and RB Leipzig have all been linked in recent weeks.
