Liverpool has confirmed that midfielder Harvey Elliott has signed for Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal.

Elliott made clear at the start of the summer that he wanted to move on in order to better his chances of representing England at next year's World Cup.

RB Leipzig was also interested in Elliott after it sold Xavi Simons to Tottenham this week



Spurs were also credited with an interest in Elliott after missing out on Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White and lost James Maddison to injury

However, it moved for Simons instead.
