Tony Mowbray has revealed Harvey Elliott was quick to apologise to his Blackburn Rovers teammates after making a costly mistake in Tuesday's defeat to Reading.
The Liverpool starlet has shone on loan at Blackburn in the Championship this season but made a costly error in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat as he lost possession cheaply deep inside his own half in the build-up to what proved to be the winning goal.
Yet the Blackburn boss absolved Elliott of any blame for the error.
It was an uncharacteristic error from the 17-year-old and Mowbray revealed that he was quick to apologise to his teammates.
While Blackburn started the season brightly, they have failed to win in their last seven matches, slumping to 15th in the Championship table with 40 points from 33 games.
He has created 41 chances so far this season at an average of 1.46 per 90 minutes, with a high pass accuracy rate of 79 per cent.
Elliott is the joint-second highest assist creator in the Championship this season, laying on nine goals for his teammates.
