Liverpool are looking to win back-to-back titles but doing so will be harder than ever.

The Reds romped to the Premier League title last season rather comfortably, with Arsenal the closest team to them despite still finishing 10 points behind.

Jose Mourinho is the only manager to win the league in his first two seasons at a club, with Arne Slot hoping to join this list come May.

However, with the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, and perhaps even Chelsea, strengthening significantly, doing so will prove rather difficult.

They have made the best possible start, though, and are the only side to pick up maximum points in the first three games, something that should put them in good stead going forward.

Despite it being so early, many are still trying to predict the final outcome of the league, and even Kylian Mbappe has had his say, with the Frenchman admitting he has ‘high hopes’ for one team in particular.

Arsenal were, and probably are this season, Liverpool’s biggest challengers for the league, with Mikel Arteta’s men coming fairly close now on numerous occasions.

And now, after saying a striker is all they really needed, they should in theory come closer to the trophy now they have signed Viktor Gyokeres.

As well as this, their team has seen little change compared to Liverpool’s summer overhaul, with this being one of the reasons why Mbappe thinks the Gunners might edge their rivals this season.

“Of course, Liverpool have to be mentioned first and foremost, as they’re determined to win one title after another,” Mbappe told BILD when asked who he thinks will win the Premier League.

“But I also have high hopes for Arsenal, because the core of the team has known each other for a long time, and that’s a crucial factor in football.”

“It’s tough.

Maybe Arsenal, maybe it will be their year.

It would certainly be easier to say City or Liverpool.”

Mbappe will know better than most the threat Arsenal possess after the North London side dumped them out of the Champions League last season.

However, Liverpool will likely back themselves a little more to beat them to the title again, especially after already beating them just last weekend.

There is no doubting Arsenal’s quality and the danger they possess, but injuries could have a huge impact on them this season, especially so early on.

Bukayo Saka missed the game against Liverpool and is expected out for a few more weeks, while Martin Odegaard is also not fully fit.

Adding to this, William Saliba had to go off after just five minutes at Anfield due to an injury, with the extent of it still unknown.

With so many key players missing, the Gunners will really have to grind out results in the next few weeks, if not, they could find themselves falling behind already.
