Darwin Nunez was one of the men who came off the bench – he came on for Diogo Jota just after the hour mark – and he was in Shearer’s firing line.

The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer stated that the Liverpool forward ‘wasn’t strong enough’ when battling Nikola Milenkovic for the ball, before it was won back by Forest, they countered and Hudson-Odoi scored the only goal of the game.

Shearer added that Nunez ‘didn’t add anything to the game’ as Liverpool fell to their first defeat of the season, as he told Match of the Day.

Liverpool got so frustrated with how well Forest were playing.

This is actually Forest’s goal, Liverpool were on the attack, Milenkovic was too strong for Nunez when he came on and he didn’t add anything to the game.

Mohamed Salah’s future is up in the air, and if he does leave, then fans will want to know that they have goalscoring reliability behind him.

If Nunez’s form is still indifferent by the time the final ball is kicked this season, then you fear he could be heading for the exit door and told to look for a new chapter.
