Gary Lineker has explained why he has no concerns about Mohamed Salah's recent form for Liverpool.

The Reds have struggled with their form in recent weeks, with defeats in the FA Cup, Europa League and Premier League. Wednesday night saw Liverpool lose 2-0 to Everton in the Merseyside derby to fall behind Manchester City and Arsenal in the title race.

Salah's form has been the subject of debate in recent months since he returned from injury. The Egyptian missed more than two months of Liverpool's season earlier this year as he recovered from a fitness issue.

He has since made his return to feature in the last 12 games across all competitions. In that time Salah has scored four goals and has not registered an assist, leading criticism being directed at the Reds No.11's form.

However, despite the criticism, Lineker is not concerned by Salah's form in front of goal. The former Everton and Leicester City striker explained the potential reasons behind Salah's recent goalscoring output, and why he believes the Liverpool star will soon return to his best.

"I suspect there’s nothing wrong in the mind of Mo Salah, he’s just having one of those little spells that all strikers have," said Lineker on The Two Robbies podcast.

"He’s been prolific, he’s been prolific again this season. He’s just having a bad patch at the wrong time.

"He’s come back from a couple of injuries and that can make a difference. I omit him from any real criticism, but he has been cold in the past few weeks, but that happens to all strikers."

Despite struggling in front of goal in recent weeks and spending two months on the sidelines, Salah has still managed to score 24 goals in all competitions for the Reds this term. The Egyptian will be hoping to be back on the score sheet when Liverpool travel to face West Ham in the Premier League this weekend.
