Tim Sherwood has insisted that Newcastle manager Eddie Howe will already be aware of what is going to happen with Alexander Isak before the end of the transfer window.
Isak played no part in the Magpies’ first Premier League game on Saturday (16 August) as they were held to a goalless draw away at Aston Villa.
The Swede is refusing to feature for the club until he is allowed to join Liverpool, but that move looks no closer to materialising with the new campaign now underway.

Liverpool’s first bid for Isak was rejected by Newcastle, who were unwilling to let him go for a package totalling £120million, but he still wants away and the Magpies are eyeing up replacements as the window progresses.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (15 August) that Isak looks increasingly likely to join Liverpool at some point soon as long he keeps refusing to play, and Howe will currently be resigned to either losing his main striker or simply not having him available to feature ever again for his side.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday on 16 August (12.12pm) former England international and current pundit Sherwood was adamant that the Newcastle boss will know exactly what is going to happen regarding Isak, predicting that the club sell him before the end of the window.
He said: “Let’s get it right, Eddie Howe is not in the dark here, he knows what’s happening.
Eddie will know if the boy’s gonna leave or if he’s not.
It’s a case of when they can get [Brentford’s Yoane] Wissa over the line, then they need to let Isak go.

“I read articles about ‘Why don’t Newcastle make a stand?’ But they’ll be saying ‘Why don’t Liverpool make a stand?
Every transfer window this happens, some player looks like they’re holding the club to ransom.
“For me they’ll struggle, they’re the richest club in the world but they can’t spend any money, so they need Isak to go out the door to give them some headroom.”
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle’s recent successes under Howe have been headed by the firepower of their Swedish international striker, who has netted over 20 goals in each of his previous two league campaigns.
Isak has understandably been untouchable in the transfer market as far as Newcastle are concerned this summer, but any bid that reaches £150m, considering the £63m [BBC] they spent to sign him in 2022, will surely now be accepted due to their circumstances.

Newcastle’s owners will not be bullied by Liverpool this summer, and even given that Isak is trying to force his way out of St James’ Park, they should only sell for what they feel is right rather than be lowballed by the Reds due to him being unsettled and refusing to play.
The Swede currently has three years left on his contract, so the Magpies do not have to sell him by any means this summer, but if a bid of £150m comes in, then only then should they should let him leave to fulfil his dreams on Merseyside.
