‘He looks really comfortable’: Alan Shearer says Liverpool have a ‘real talent’ on their hands

Liverpool flushed away the disappointment of the past few weeks by beating Tottenham on Sunday.

With the end nearing for Jurgen Klopp before he heads for the exit door, many were worried that his tenure was going to finish in the worst possible way.

But as Alan Shearer alluded to, he was ‘really pleased’ that Liverpool beat Spurs because he thinks Klopp deserves a better send-off.

In previous times, you can criticise the players for not having their shooting boots on, but this time around, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott were all on point.

Even though the Reds scored four goals, once again, you felt that they could and should have scored more.

You suspect Liverpool will stick with the same XI for their trip to Aston Villa on Monday night as the players get a rare eight-day build-up to their next match.

Whilst a lot of criticism has been flying the players’ way recently, one man who is starting to impress Shearer is Elliott, as he told The Rest is Football.

The legendary striker noted how ‘really comfortable’ Elliott looks on the ball after his stunning effort against Spurs.

The 21-year-old probably hasn’t started the games he would have wanted this season, but Shearer likes what he is seeing from the youngster.

I was really pleased they put in a really good performance against Spurs just because I don’t think Klopp deserves to go out in the manner of the last four or five weeks.

I think he deserves to go out with three victories because of what he has achieved and what he has done for Liverpool football club.

“Oh, what a goal (from Harvey Elliott).

He looks a real talent.”

Some Liverpool fans still probably can’t believe it.

But this is the end for Klopp.

What a journey it has been for the German as he will depart a club legend and the man who ended their 30-year wait to become champions of England.

Klopp’s final away game will be a trip to Villa Park.

Liverpool fans will be hoping Gary O’Neil’s side don’t spoil the party because, like Steven Gerrard, you don’t want Klopp bowing out with a defeat.
