Liverpool have agreed a deal with Al Hilal to sell Darwin Nunez after three years at the club.

Reds fans are some of the most endearing supporters in the world, so if a player is well-liked, it says a lot about them as a footballer and person.

One player who is absolutely adored at Anfield is Darwin Nunez, although his time on Merseyside is about to be up after a rather lacklustre three seasons.

He signed for a then-club-record fee of £85m and although he never lived up to expectations, the character he is has meant he is a firm fan favourite.

As he gets ready to say goodbye to Liverpool, it feels only right to give him the send-off he deserves, with it being safe to say the Uruguayan has had his fair share of ‘mad moments’ over the years.

After just signing for a massive fee, fans were so excited to see their new striker in action, with his home debut coming against Crystal Palace.

You would imagine Jurgen Klopp’s pep talk to him would have been something like “nothing stupid, Darwin,” which he clearly paid no attention to in typical Nunez fashion.

After being man-marked by Joachim Andersen all game, the Uruguayan’s frustrations got the better of him, with the striker thinking that the only way to win the battle was if he decided to headbutt him.

A red card followed swiftly after his actions, with this introduction perhaps being a sign of how his Liverpool career would go.

When Liverpool reached the Carabao Cup final in 2024, they were going through a bit of an injury crisis, with Nunez one of those who had to miss the game.

Many of the youngsters got a chance, however, and they helped the Reds clinch the trophy, with captain Virgil van Dijk scoring the winner in the 118th minute of extra time.

This sparked mayhem on the bench and the stand behind, with an ‘injured’ Nunez jumping the barrier to run onto the sideline and celebrate the winner.

Never change, Darwin.

If there is one thing the 26-year-old is known for during his spell on Merseyside, it is that he has an incredible knack for missing easy chances.

One of these was in the Europa League, with Nunez doing all the hard work by producing a skilful run and going round the goalkeeper, only to then hit the post.

Luckily for him, Ryan Gravenberch turned in the rebound, but that whole piece of play sums up the Uruguayan rather nicely.

Back in January 2024 against Chelsea, he hit the crossbar and post twice each, with one of these coming from the penalty spot.

This was a new Premier League record, with this game really proving just how unlucky he really was.

Despite his mad and quite hilarious moments, one thing that Nunez will always be remembered for is his last-minute winners that gave fans some of their best moments in recent seasons.

Whether it was that brace after coming on against Newcastle, or his last-gasp winners against Brentford and Nottingham Forest alike, the Uruguayan really did have some key moments.

For now, it looks like Captain Chaos’ time at Liverpool is up, but he truly has been a one-of-a-kind footballer who will be sorely missed.
